Two figures, wreathed in black mist with glowing green eyes, fixated on Lin Ye and his companions.
Lin Ye recognized their appearance instantly.
"Ghost cultivators?" he blurted out.
"So it was you rats causing trouble."
"Heh heh heh, you'll be staying here." With that, one lunged towards Lin Ye and the others.
Lin Ye, however, didn't move. He simply watched.
As quick as lightning, Li Zhi drew his sword and stepped forward to face the two.
The ghost cultivators exuded a chilling aura, both revealing Core Formation realm power, clearly formidable opponents. The taller one wielded a long chain scythe, while the shorter one held a pair of sharp bone hammers. They advanced step by step, the surrounding black mist churning as if to swallow Li Zhi and his group. Li Zhi's gaze was steady, showing no fear.
"Both of them are Core Formation?" Gao Hu, sensing the ghost cultivators' auras, immediately grasped their cultivation levels.
"Captain Lin, aren't you going to help?" Gao Hu asked, puzzled that only Li Zhi had stepped forward. Wouldn't it be faster to deal with the opponents if they both attacked?
"No need. Li Zhi can handle them himself," Lin Ye replied calmly, making no move and reassuring Gao Hu.
Hearing this, Gao Hu said no more, content to watch Li Zhi's duel with the ghost cultivators.
The two ghost cultivators, one tall and one short, looked at Li Zhi, cruel smiles playing on their lips.
"Heh heh, you damn it! To underestimate us brothers! Sixth Brother, attack!" Seeing so many people from Lin Ye's group allowing just one person to face them, the ghost cultivators became enraged.
Upon hearing his brother's command, the taller ghost cultivator didn't hesitate. He charged forward, brandishing his scythe.
He drew his long sword, its blade shimmering with a sharp light. A great battle was about to erupt, the very air around them seeming to freeze.
Suddenly, the taller ghost cultivator attacked, the scythe slicing through the air with a whistling wind, aimed at Li Zhi. Li Zhi dodged sideways, evading the blow.
Simultaneously, his long sword moved like a serpent emerging from its lair, thrusting directly at the taller ghost cultivator's chest. The ghost cultivator, terrified, tried to retreat, but it was too late. The sword tip pierced his body.
The shorter ghost cultivator, witnessing this, roared in fury. He slammed his bone hammers heavily onto the ground, causing a long fissure to split the earth. Using the force of this strike, he lunged violently at Li Zhi.
However, Li Zhi's movements were as elusive as the wind, making him impossible to track. The long sword in his hand continuously swung out, each strike filled with power and skill.
The shorter ghost cultivator's attacks missed repeatedly, while Li Zhi's long sword remained close to him. Suddenly, Li Zhi's sword carved a dazzling arc, precisely slicing through the shorter ghost cultivator's throat. The ghost cultivator's body froze for a moment before crashing down with a thud.
"Ngh... How is this possible? How can you be so strong!" the shorter ghost cultivator gasped in disbelief as he fell.
After the battle, Li Zhi calmly wiped the bloodstains from his sword.
"So strong!" Gao Hu exclaimed, staring in shock at Lin Ye and the others. Li Zhi had defeated the two ghost cultivators in just a few exchanges.
Gao Hu knew about Li Zhi and Lin Ye's group. They were also Human level Heavenly Dragon Guards, just like his own team. However, Lin Ye's team was known as the strongest Human level Heavenly Dragon Guard squad. His own team only had Captain Zhong Li Dao at the Core Formation realm, while Lin Ye's team had four members, with both Captain Lin Ye and Li Zhi being at the Core Formation realm. He had thought a team with two Core Formation experts would be strong, but he hadn't expected them to be this strong. Two Core Formation ghost cultivators were easily dealt with by Li Zhi alone.
Seeing that Li Zhi had finished, Lin Ye slowly walked forward and patted Li Zhi's shoulder, signaling him to leave.

Ji Ni, seeing her captain about to leave, hurriedly followed, "Hey! Wait for me! Why didn't you pat me too, just him!"
Watching Lin Ye and the others leave, Bai Ling paused for a moment before quickly standing up and running towards the valley. As she ran, she called out to Gao Hu and the others, "Gao Hu, I'm going to help them. You two stay here. I'll be back soon."
Meanwhile.
Five figures shrouded in black mist huddled together.
"How can this be! The lamp tokens for Fifth Brother and Sixth Brother have gone out!" A ghost cultivator, clad in black robes and exuding an aura of killing intent, exclaimed in shock as he looked at the two extinguished lamp tokens on the wall.
"It seems some experts from the Heavenly Dragon Guard have arrived. Sixth Brother and Seventh Brother must have fallen into their hands," a voice murmured from beside him.
"Hmph! Such useless trash. They couldn't even deal with a Human level Heavenly Dragon Guard and ended up being killed instead. They were a drain on resources even alive!" someone scoffed.
"Sixth and Seventh Brothers aren't weak either. We sent those two Core Formation cultivators to deal with one Human level Heavenly Dragon Guard, and yet there was an accident. Could it be they encountered an Earthly level expert?"
"Earthly level? In a forsaken place like this, would an Earthly level expert show up?"
"I've investigated. This small county only has a few Heavenly Dragon Guards operating here, and among them, only one has the strength to kill Sixth Brother and his companion!"
"It must be that brat! The wound he gave me back then still aches." one of them said fiercely!
"You mean that person named Lin Ye? I didn't expect him to be here too, and at the Ghost Nest no less. Heh heh, perfect then, we can use him to eliminate them upon the Master's arrival!"
The leading elder spoke slowly, his tone filled with coldness.
"That's a good idea, but won't this interfere with the Master's plan? What if we incur the wrath of those above..." one of them worried.
"No need to worry. Their strength is still too weak; it won't affect the Master's revival."
"Let's go. We shall welcome the Master's awakening!"
"Heh heh heh heh, just thinking about it makes me happy. I'm going to torture that guy to death!"
With that, the figures slowly faded from their original positions.
Several tall figures were rapidly approaching Qin Hao's location.
Bai Ling was walking beside Lin Ye.
"Oh, you mean Qin Hao can't cultivate and is a body refining martial artist?" Lin Ye asked as he hurried along, digesting Bai Ling's information.
This news greatly surprised him. A teenager, relying solely on the strength of his own body, could instantly kill a fourth-tier ghostly creature. This fact alone left him astonished.
When did an eleven or twelve-year-old kid become so awesome?
"Furthermore, Qin Hao might have awakened some kind of physique or bloodline? We were right there when he awakened," Bai Ling quickly added.
Hearing the latter part of the news, even Ling Zhi, who was usually cold, couldn't sit still and uttered two words: "Genius."
"He is indeed a genius. Such a gifted young man cannot be allowed to perish in this kind of ghastly place."
After speaking, Lin Ye and the others urged their true qi, accelerating their dash towards the valley.
