This was a salt flat. A few scarlet ferns grew in its whitish soil.
Several tiny yellow beetles with golden shells crawled across the ground. Now and then, one or two soft-bodied worms gnawed at tree roots swollen from soaking in the foul-smelling mud.
Xu Yi couldn't see anything unusual about the place, much less any sign that a gold-element Spirit Mine Vein might be there.
"Brother Xu, dig here. Go down six or seven zhang. It doesn't matter how hard you dig."
The man in black spoke.
With a thought, Xu Yi summoned the Immortal Slaying Spear. Golden light flashed, and in an instant, a shallow pit appeared.
The pit widened at a visible pace. In just a few dozen breaths, a hole half a zhang wide and seven zhang deep had formed.
"What treasure is that? It's so sharp, and it gathers and disperses at will."
Yun Mingmie exclaimed.
He was even more astonished by the strength of Xu Yi's soul sense. Even he would have found it difficult to control so many dazzling beams of golden light at once.
"It's just a simple little trinket, nothing worth mentioning."
Xu Yi smiled.
"That's no little trinket. If I'm not mistaken, that should be the Immortal Slaying Spear. I was fortunate enough to see it once when I worked for the Zhou Family years ago."
The Long Beard Old Man beside Xu Yi suddenly spoke.
Xu Yi smiled faintly. "I didn't expect you to recognize it."
"It really is the Immortal Slaying Spear!"
The Long Beard Old Man exclaimed. "I thought it only looked like it, but I never imagined it was the real thing. Sect Master Xu, you're blessed by heaven. Congratulations!"
"The Immortal Slaying Spear? It certainly has presence."
Yun Mingmie replied, though he wasn't particularly impressed.
