After Chen Daozi finished eating and drinking, he led Xu Yi to the valley where he often gave lectures. It was only a little over three thousand zhang from the coastline, so it wasn't particularly remote.
Xu Yi was looking around curiously when Chen Daozi waved a hand. The enormous slab of bluestone where he gave his lectures suddenly split apart. Xu Yi jumped in fright and stared at Chen Daozi in astonishment.
Chen Daozi said, "As you know, giving lectures isn't easy. Housing in Ink City is exorbitantly expensive, and it's hard to rent or buy. The whole coast belongs to the Management Association, and staying there comes at a cost. This place is already quite close to the coastline, but people's hearts are hard to fathom. You never know which of the cultivators listening to you might harbor dark intentions, so I have no choice but to take precautions."
Xu Yi nodded. "I'm a Rogue Cultivator too. I know how hard it is for us. If we aren't even careful, then we truly have nothing left."
"Thank you for understanding."
Chen Daozi nodded and led Xu Yi underground. After winding their way forward for dozens of zhang, they arrived at a spacious hall measuring seven or eight zhang across.
The hall's four walls were built from dark, dense ironstone, and several shark-tear pearls adorned them, filling the entire space with soft light. There was a low couch in the upper-left corner, and nothing else.
"Where's the Heavenly Spirit?"
Chen Daozi went straight to the heart of the matter.
Xu Yi took out a transparent object finer than a strand of hair and no longer than his little finger, then laid it in his palm.
