There were two reasons Xu Yi had managed to calm himself.
First, he was still alive—for now. Even though one Dragon of Stars had been taken from him, at least he had kept his life. As long as he was alive, anything was possible. Besides, he still had another Dragon of Stars. It was his last hope of turning things around.
Second, there was no getting around the matter of Huang Mei.
When he was captured, his terror had come from two sources. One was the threat to his life. The other was the treasure in his Starry Sky Ring. If it had all been looted, even if he survived, the rage would have killed him.
At the critical moment, Huang Mei had acted. Xu Yi had seen it with his own eyes: the fellow had pulled off a massive relocation inside the Starry Sky Ring, moving every precious treasure into a Sumeru Ring. If Xu Yi hadn't told him to stop, he would have moved every last one of the Incense Beads, too.
If he had done that, it might actually have aroused everyone's suspicions. Xu Yi had pleaded with Huang Mei at length before finally talking him down.
Once Huang Mei had pulled off that stunt, half of the weight on Xu Yi's mind lifted. His actions showed that he was absolutely certain he could slip away unnoticed with the Sumeru Ring.
And sure enough, Huang Mei sauntered out of the Starry Sky Ring, carrying the Sumeru Ring, and strolled off.
At the time, the Golden Roc Demon King, the highest-ranked among them, was still there, yet he hadn't noticed a thing.
