He didn't know how long he drifted with the currents. Suddenly, the scene before him brightened, and he saw a colossal jade pillar shoot through the void. One end of the pillar was gleaming white, the other blood-red. As it streaked through the sky, it whipped up a monstrous starry-sky storm behind it. The current Xu Yi was caught in was but one corner of that storm.
Boom! A violent wave of light exploded, as if the sun had detonated at the poles. In that instant, it felt as though steel blades had plunged into Xu Yi's eyes. He went blind.
A dozen or so breaths after the wave of light burst, the starry-sky storm suddenly dispersed, and the currents scattered with it. Xu Yi still didn't dare open his eyes. Floating quietly in the starry sky, he suddenly realized what the jade pillar had been: a severed finger—the very same severed finger.
