Ju Ling Shen raised the great banner.
The Northern Emperor had come in person. His gaze descended, calm and indifferent, yet boundlessly ancient. The four Demon Immortals, including the qilin, all stiffened. The Northern Emperor lowered his eyes without a word, and the great banner in Ju Ling Shen's hand swept fiercely across the sky. Thunder rumbled as black clouds washed over the firmament.
He shouted, "Attack!!!"
On every auspicious cloud, the giants of the Thunder Department summoned their divine strength and raised enormous drumsticks. Wrapped in thunderbolts, they slammed them down upon the war drums. Thunder crashed, exploding across a thousand miles. The Heavenly Soldiers and Generals leaned back in unison, their fingers curling slightly as Primordial Qi gathered in their palms and became thunder.
Then they took a fierce step forward.
Their bodies rose, power erupting.
It was as if they had seized the most savage, violent force in all the world. In an instant, all things dimmed, while the brightest, purest power blazed in the palms of the Heavenly Soldiers and Generals. It was thunder, it was lightning; strands upon strands of lightning converged, reflected in the eyes of the demons and illuminating them utterly.
The world was steeped in slaughter.
The demons were terrified. Their bodies stiffened, their pupils shrinking sharply. Each Heavenly Soldier and General held a bolt of thunder, and above them, on the countless auspicious clouds surrounding heaven and earth, stretched an endless sea of lightning. Thunder roared, accompanied by another heavy beat of the war drums, as if heaven and earth themselves were bellowing:
"Attack!!!"
The qilin's scalp prickled and its heart chilled. It knew there was no use, yet still shouted at the top of its lungs:
"Is this how the mighty Heavenly Court, which subdues the myriad realms, intends to
