He looked at Uzumaki Mito. "If that's how we choose a Hokage, then I was the Second's student, the Third's fellow disciple, and even received instruction from the First. Is that enough prestige?
"When the village was founded, I helped alongside Hiruzen. I fought in both the First and Second Shinobi World Wars. Hiruzen has been the Third Hokage for eight years, and I've commanded Root for eight years, serving as the roots of the Leaf Village without ever seeking the spotlight. Are those contributions enough?"
"I fought in the First Shinobi World War and served in the Second's Guard Squad. When the God Organization invaded today, I led from the front, and my subordinates suffered the heaviest casualties. Is that enough strength?"
"If you want to talk about public support, sorry, I'm usually too busy to cultivate such things. But once the villagers are told what I've done, that support will come naturally."
Danzo swept his gaze around the room, then looked at Uzumaki Mito. "So now, I nominate myself. I, Shimura Danzō, will serve as the Fourth Hokage. If anyone believes they're better suited than I am, they may step forward."

She truly hadn't expected him to be this shameless.

Danzo stared hard at her. "Wasn't that what you said yourself? Competence, strength, prestige, contributions-which of those does she surpass me in? As for this so-called public support, that's merely the Senju's legacy. On her own merits, never mind anyone else-even Orochimaru, her fellow Sannin, leaves her in the dust."
He sneered as he continued, "My apologies, I forgot. Lady Mito never mentioned competence. Of course she didn't. Who here isn't more
