There was little news about Kang Prefecture. After asking around again and again, even buying some top-secret information from several large trading houses, Lei Dong finally learned that it was extremely far away. From the Chaotic Archipelago, one had to reach the Zhao Prefecture mainland, cross the whole of Zhao Prefecture, and arrive at its far western edge, where a desolate desert began. Beyond that desert lay the Hengduan Mountain Range, which divided the world in two. Past the range was Kang Prefecture. And Yin Sha Sect, Lei Dong's old home, seemed to be not far from the Hengduan Mountain Range. It sounded close.
The problem, however, was that it only sounded close. Take Zhao Prefecture, for example: it was a place almost as vast as Kang Prefecture, with sects and lineages spread everywhere. From the Chaotic Archipelago, across all of Zhao Prefecture, to the edge of that desert, the straight-line distance was roughly seven hundred thousand li. If he flew at full speed, it seemed Lei Dong could cover those seven hundred thousand li in just over a month.
But flying in a straight line at full speed was a death wish for any cultivator. Along that route stood three of Zhao Prefecture's top sects and some seventy or eighty extremely dangerous sects and lineages. Did anyone really think they could swagger right over their heads and expect nothing bad to happen?
So Lei Dong had ordered a complete map of the Chaotic Archipelago and Zhao Prefecture. It was, of course, no paper map, but one recorded on a Jade Slip, with lifelike mountains and rivers. It marked all kinds of dangerous places and perilous terrain, as well as the locations of sects, lineages, and their strongholds. The map was incredibly detailed, many times better than the one Lei
