The Soul Devouring Pagoda still looked as dilapidated as ever. But when Lei Dong's divine sense merged with it, he discovered an ancient, oddly shaped little cauldron floating inside. The two had clearly fused together into one. However, the Soul Devouring Pagoda had never come with an instruction manual, and all Lei Dong knew about the little cauldron was that it could refine Ghost Gu.
Now that they had fused, had the little cauldron inherited the ability to refine Ghost Gu, or did it have other functions as well? Lei Dong had no idea. He would have to explore and experiment to figure out what the Soul Devouring Pagoda could really do now. He still had quite a few Spirit Ghosts of various grades on hand, so he decided to use them for his tests.
Another month passed before Lei Dong had a rough grasp of the Soul Devouring Pagoda's abilities. It could still devour ghosts, absorb Soul Force, and produce Soul Pills that improved Spirit Ghosts' potential. That function hadn't changed much, and it was the ability he relied on most—the foundation of his survival. As for Ghost Gu, Lei Dong had tried refining one from an Upper Grade Spirit Ghost and some materials. The result was a mass of dark, evil energy. Once implanted in a person's body, it invaded their soul. Unless they took an antidote, the Ghost Gu would devour their soul, leaving them to wail in agony until they died.
This was something Lei Dong badly needed. Anyone else in this world who obtained the little cauldron could only make limited use of it. At best, they could control a dozen or so Golden Core Initial Stage or Middle Stage cultivators. After all, refining Ghost Gu required Upper Grade Spirit Ghosts, which were incredibly rare.
