Lei Dong consumed the Chaos Golden Lotus, survived a desperate fight with Evil Phoenix and the Insect Emperor, and remained unconscious for years while Evil Phoenix searched for a way to awaken him. At the Nether King’s palace, Lei Dong recovered, revealed his Chaos Soul Devouring Pagoda, and was chosen as the Nether King’s successor.

• Lei Dong used his Big Belly Cannon Ghosts to devastate the Insect Emperor’s swarm, escaped with the Chaos Golden Lotus, and consumed it before Evil Phoenix caught up to him.
• Lei Dong fought Evil Phoenix through the caverns, then joined forces with her against the Insect Emperor and the Nine Nether Soul Devouring Insect King.
• Lei Dong escaped with Evil Phoenix, but A Chou died holding off the pursuing insect, and Lei Dong fell unconscious as Ghost Thorn carried them away.
• Evil Phoenix nursed Lei Dong for years, trained Ghost Thorn, and bound Mystic Snake with a Beast-Controlling Ring before taking them to investigate a mysterious light.

Lei Dong accepted the Nether King's succession and helped defend Nether King Hall before rescuing Xiao You and returning to the Great Gan Continent. There he entered the Gongsun family under a false identity to reach the Myriad Puppet Sect, but a plot against him culminated in an ambush.

• Lei Dong accepted the Nether King's succession and joined Evil Phoenix and the Nether King Hall spirit in fighting Blood Child, Mei She, Dana, the Archaic War Giant, and the Crimson Refining Divine Snake.
• After the battle, Lei Dong and Evil Phoenix left Nether River Valley, found Xiao You and Lei Long under attack by the Netherworld Ghost Tiger King, and killed the beast before Lei Dong extracted its bloodline essence.
• Lei Dong gave the Ten Thousand Year Nether Milk to the Ghost Emperor to end his Blood Sacrifice connection to Xiao You, then left for the Great Gan Continent with the Soul Devouring Shadow Tiger and Ghost Thorn.
• When the Myriad Puppet Sect delayed his request for help, Lei Dong recruited Old Man Gongsun, became his supposed illegitimate son Gongsun Dong, and studied and built puppets.

Lei Dong won entry to the Myriad Puppet Sect, stole its Spirit Transmutation Puppet Technique, and traded for it by promising Life Divine Water. After preparing a puppet and new Ghost Servant for his journey to the Purgatory Domain, he reached Scorching Canyon and joined Wu Ji’s group under the name Ding Dong.

• Lei Dong killed Luo Hongqing after the ambush, spared Gongsun Rong, and returned her and Gongsun Qing to Myriad Flower Valley.
• Lei Dong competed at the Myriad Puppet Sect, placed second, and qualified as a core disciple while Gongsun Qing earned a place as an Inner Sect Disciple.

Lei Dong joined Wu Ji’s expedition into the Purgatory Domain, where he revealed his strength and killed the Devil Generals who threatened the group. He secured a vast Fire Spirit Jade deposit and reached the Heart of the Melting Lake, where he began refining materials and repairing a Spirit Transmutation-level Puppet as King Chi Gui and the Purgatory Devil King drew near.

• Lei Dong followed Wu Ji’s group into the Purgatory Domain, where Chi Wei, Kampal, and Huo Ling attacked them after Chen Yun revealed he carried the sought-after jade.
• Lei Dong exposed his power, killed the three Devil Generals and Chen Yun, and survived the Six Extremes Yang Fire Pearl’s explosion before Gui Ming killed the human cultivators who had betrayed their companions.
• Lei Dong led Wu Ji and the Murong Sisters deeper into the lakebed, where Gui Ming defeated a Flame Element Phoenix and the group mined Fire Spirit Jade worth over seven hundred million spirit stones.
