Rumble!
Accompanied by a thunderous sound that reverberated across the battlefield, all of Marineford suddenly began to shake violently.
"What's going on?!"
The pirates in the midst of battle couldn't help stopping to look around in alarm.
Then they saw the Marines across from them begin to disengage, retreating toward the plaza under their officers' command.
"Fall back!"
"Back to the plaza!"
A commander raised his long blade to the sky and shouted. Only after all the soldiers around him had run past did he sheathe his sword.
Thinking of the plan they were about to carry out, a cruel glint flashed in his eyes. He turned and charged toward the plaza with the others. "Welcome to hell, you damn pirates!"
As if they'd all received the same order, the Marines retreated in perfect unison along the entire line.
The pirates caught up in the fighting couldn't see what was happening across the whole battlefield, and their high spirits kept them from suspecting anything.
They were simply even more excited and triumphant at the sight of the enemy fleeing before them.
"The Marines are scared! Hahaha!"
"Now's our chance, brothers!"
"Keep pushing and charge right in!"
The cold gleam of swords filled the air. Feverish excitement shone on the pirates' faces as they raised their blades and leveled their guns, charging after the retreating Marines.
The captains leading the charge were clearly more aware of the situation.
Vista, the Flower Sword, stood still and glanced at the hulking, gleaming hardcase not far away. Dressed in a suit, with a pair of curled mustaches, he said, "Jozu, something's not right."
"I know."
Jozu nodded gravely. "Don't overthink it. This is a rare chance to push forward."
Having sailed the seas with Pops for so long, they naturally realized the Marines' actions
