In the New World, a certain stretch of sea had been cloudless just moments ago. The next, thunder cracked and lightning flashed as waves churned.
A pirate ship sailed across the raging waves. Though the sea was perilous, the ship was brightly lit, and a banquet was underway inside.
Loud laughter and rowdy chatter spilled out, making the dark, dangerous sea seem a little less frightening.

The cabin door was shoved open. A fat fish-man holding a harpoon hurriedly spoke through his thick lips. "Captain Roger, Monkey D. Garp has caught up with us again."
The lively banquet fell silent at once.
Every eye turned toward the fat fish-man. Then the pirates clinked their cups and laughed again.
The mood hadn't been affected at all.
"Sambel, have a drink first."
At the head of the table sat a man in an ordinary shirt with a black beard. He picked up the pirate hat and red coat beside him, then walked to the cabin door and pointed to his seat.
He was an easygoing man.

Sambel didn't refuse. He put down his harpoon and plopped into the head seat, no longer in a hurry.

Roger put on his coat, picked up the long sword by the door, and stepped outside.
