The last two sentences were even more baffling.

In the original story, that hotheaded kid had been able to run around causing trouble because he had connections and plot armor. Put some nobody without either in his place, and he'd be dead in an instant, without even a scrap left.

People like that, convinced of their own importance, couldn't see others for who they were—or themselves.

As for fulfilling a dream, killing wasn't appropriate!

It was Chaos's way of saying goodbye to his past.

Unfortunately, it didn't bring him any sort of enlightenment.

What mattered most was keeping his promise. That was part of his character, and he couldn't break character.
