Just as expected, once the face blocking the way had been purified, Old Knight quickly returned to normal.

Even the frost covering his body was dispelled in an instant, and his complexion turned unusually rosy.

"Finally, some warmth..."

With a dazed look of relief, Knight sighed hoarsely, then looked up at Fu Qian.

"Thank you for bringing me home yesterday. I suppose the older you get, the harder it is to stay away from the liquor cabinet."

"I've felt cold ever since I got back yesterday, but after finishing this bottle, I feel much better."

"You're welcome. I'm just glad you're all right."

Fu Qian listened to Knight's thanks with a smile, shaking his head inwardly.

They were in a new script now, just as he'd expected.

Although Knight seemed perfectly normal in conversation, it was obvious he was in that peculiar state. The profound emptiness about him was proof enough.

And in this new script, to avoid a conflict with his earlier memories, he'd automatically interpreted events as having left the banquet early yesterday and Fu Qian bringing him home.

"I'm all right now. Under the witness of the stars, I've once again felt my true self."

A strange smile played on Knight's lips. His voice was relaxed and composed.

"Please tell Dean Collins that I'm doing fine. I'll be able to taste his fine wine again soon."

"Certainly."

Fu Qian answered, then seemed to remember something.

"Almost forgot. Dean Collins also asked me to remind you that a dangerous fugitive named Herom has recently infiltrated Bailuoke. Please be careful."

After several seconds of silence, a look of visible disgust spread across Knight's face.

"Her~om~"

Fu Qian stepped closer with a beaming smile, emphasizing the name of the fallen demigod.

"Herom. I think I've heard that name before."
