This should be the place.
Looking at the house number below, Fu Qian nodded in satisfaction.
With time precious, he hadn't wasted any after leaving the police station. He'd headed straight for the address he'd gotten from Stan.
Although he'd managed to pry some information out of Stan during their earlier back-and-forth, he'd had to maintain his air of mystery, so the information he'd obtained was actually rather fragmentary.
For now, he could be certain that Stan was undoubtedly connected to the corpse in the storeroom. He was most likely the one who'd killed the victim, and Joseph knew about it.
But he couldn't yet determine exactly what had happened or what had started it.
It was also unclear whether any of this would help him get out.
Perhaps he'd find some answers here.
As he thought, Fu Qian tried pushing the door.
It swung open. It wasn't locked.
Inside was an ordinary room. It looked like no one had lived there for some time. The place was a mess, and the floor was covered in footprints.
So Sergeant Stan had already been here.
Fu Qian muttered to himself, though he wasn't surprised.
The footprints on the floor clearly belonged to more than one person. Combined with the excessive disorder, it was obvious the door had been left unlocked for a long time, allowing thieves and the like to come and go repeatedly.
Under the strange rules of this world, everyone naturally believed that a lock could only be opened with a key, as instructed. So picking a lock wasn't even considered possible.
And it was relatively rare for someone to leave home without locking the door.
Most likely, someone had come later with a key and deliberately left without locking it.
As he thought, Fu Qian surveyed the room.
