Could the dark desires flowing from people's hearts form a night darker than night itself?
Interesting.
If I sorted out the timeline, one thing was certain: the Night of Nights potion had appeared before the first desecration of the sun.
So the logic was simple: it should have been the core of the original plan. In other words, Grantham's people believed it was a means of achieving their goal.
However, because of my own act of desecrating the sun, Grantham's group had decisively abandoned their plan to deal with the new city administrator. Instead, they'd reined in their actions and replaced their original approach with discreet, small-scale distribution.
There were two possible explanations for this. The first was that they'd been inspired and completely changed their way of thinking.
The second was that the anomalies they'd witnessed earlier had convinced them that small-scale distribution would be enough.
For now, though, the second possibility seemed much more likely.
In other words, this scene before me was the miniature version of what Grantham wanted to accomplish.
It was certainly strange, but the thing itself wasn't particularly powerful. It was hard to imagine it could support a ritual to ascend to god's envoy.
Under the full moon, in this special Night of Nights, could the purpose be to draw the Ancestor's "gaze"?
"Flowing?"
Clearly puzzled by Fu Qian's comment, Grantham couldn't help speaking up.
That flawless expression of confusion meant either that this top-tier actor had a gift for it, or that he, too, had underestimated the scene before them.
Fu Qian glanced at Grantham, judging him silently.
"That's right. Although these people's behavior is hard to watch, and their embarrassment levels are off the charts, it's easy to see that their emotions haven't changed at all. Their actions switch back and forth
