"Are you really treating me to a drink?"
Lanaia, who had quickly abandoned her duties, had relaxed at last after leading the way beside him for a while.
"What, you don't trust my word?"
"Your word is one thing... I'm just curious about your outfit. Where are you keeping the money to pay?"
Unfortunately, Lanaia had seen too much to be fooled so easily. She sized him up in the faint light from the roadside.
That was a sharp question, because he was currently clad head to toe in black armor. Its lines were sleek, its design imposing.
He'd even added a wing-shaped cape to his back. At a glance, he looked like he'd just come back from a comic convention.
"I know people around Apocalypse are usually pretty casual, but isn't that outfit a little over the top?"
Lanaia couldn't help making a remark.
"Is it cool?"
Professor Fu nodded repeatedly, listening intently to the Department of Punishment chief's opinion before finally asking.
As much as she hated to admit it, from a purely design perspective, the close-fitting armor did have an elegant, domineering quality.
"It's cool... but I'm still asking: do you have anywhere to keep money on you?"
Lanaia grudgingly acknowledged it, but she didn't lose sight of her original question.
Hmph!
Fu Qian looked as if he thought she had some taste after all, then turned around.
He really did have somewhere...
As he moved, Lanaia spotted a hidden compartment on the right side of his waist armor. For a moment, she was speechless.
"Come on... I'll take you somewhere with pretty good food."
"Do you think they'll find my outfit cool?"
"Don't worry. People who come out drinking in the middle of the night aren't easily scared."
"You're sure this is the place?"
