Was the effect a little too over-the-top?
Admiringly, Fu Qian pulled his gaze from the giant tree that had burst up from the sea and instantly grown to dozens of meters tall. He took two steps forward and looked at Tree Planter Person, who stood there dazed.
"So you shouted for me to stop just so you could hang it up there to dry? Or were you planning to teach it to soar through the sky?"
Tree Planter Person was a middle-aged man with dark reddish skin, a sturdy build, black hair, green eyes, and a thick beard that covered nearly half his face.
Fu Qian's voice made him shudder all over, bringing him back to his senses.
"Who are you?"
He jumped aside as if shocked by electricity and warily sized up Fu Qian, not answering the question.
"Just a nobody who couldn't stand by and watch injustice."
Fu Qian spoke modestly, pointing toward the top of the tree.
"Honestly, this is a bit much. Even if a fish grew two tails, it'd still have a hard time taking off, wouldn't it?"
Faced with Fu Qian's nonsense, Tree Planter Person was indignant, but for a moment, he couldn't find a way to refute it.
The mermaid, who had been trapped from the start, was now locked dozens of meters above the water in the giant tree's cage-like branches.
Its frantic struggles radiated a terror that seemed ready to overflow.
Yet the dark bluish-green vines showed astonishing toughness. Not only had the mermaid failed to break free, but they had only tightened their grip.
Its face wasn't human, but the emotion of despair was still clear.
A cry even more piercing than the one it had let out when it was injured earlier came from its mouth.
