That was asking a bit too much of the imagination!
To be honest, Fu Qian had seen frog eggs plenty of times, but that tail had been so dazzling that he hadn't connected it with a frog's down-to-earth image at all.
By comparison, it looked more like the foam a mermaid turned into in a fairy tale.
That stark contrast made the scene before him all the more striking.
"Heh... Surprised?"
The enormous face wore a smile now. Vivian's huge eyes swept up and down over Fu Qian before settling on his severed arm.
"Sorry, I was a little rough with you just now. But my instincts were right. So young, yet with a body that bears divinity... I'm jealous!"
"It's fine. I'm used to it. Besides, looks are the least important thing. You don't look bad, either."
Fu Qian showed her the rapidly knitting buds of flesh at his severed arm, indicating that she needn't worry about it, then returned the compliment without batting an eye.
"On my way here, I ran into a creature with more than a dozen mouths. Now that was an eyesore."
"You mean Salong?"
Vivian gave a soft "Oh."
"He really isn't much to look at, especially when he's eating."
So it even had a name?
There really didn't seem to be many creatures around here.
"So you killed him?"
Fu Qian was still praising her when she continued with the question.
"Can't you tell?"
Fu Qian looked a little puzzled.
"I thought I wouldn't have to brag about it."
"Because of my special connection to this sea, I can sense certain things, but not much in the way of details."
Vivian's tone even sounded a little self-mocking.
"I only knew that his presence had disappeared. I was even wondering how it had happened."
