Looking out the window, he spotted a black carriage indeed, standing silently in the courtyard.
Even the two horses in front only occasionally let out a snort.

Of course, wanting it wouldn't make it happen. After another stretch of walking, Amira and Reginald led Fu Qian into an open ward. They stood in silence for a few seconds, facing an empty bed.
"Was there supposed to be someone here?"
Seeing the relatively fresh bloodstains on the bed, Fu Qian had little trouble guessing why the two of them had reacted that way.
"Most of the time, yes. And it was the person who brought us here."
Amira nodded slowly.
"He was in the worst condition of all of them. During the first week, he even forced himself to stay awake, until he eventually couldn't fight it anymore and changed his approach."
"That makes sense. So what's the situation now? Did they move him to another ward?"
Fu Qian was quite satisfied with the decision to go straight to the source.
"Why couldn't he have died because his condition was too severe?" Reginald interjected.
"Isn't the answer obvious? We're all still here."
Although the other man couldn't see his expression, Fu Qian still gave him a look of contempt.
"As the Nightmare Sharer, if the source disappeared, surely that would affect the three of us somehow?"
