"What's going on?"
In the freezing basement, faced with the sudden change, Amira clenched her teeth and managed not to scream.
She reacted swiftly, too. The barrier she had just dismissed unfurled again in an instant, enveloping all three of them.
But she soon realized it was completely unnecessary.
The hideous, grotesque creature that had been covering Anke had already stopped moving, layers of white frost forming over it.
"It really changed..."
Reginald, standing beside her, wasn't faring much better. He stared at the scene in confusion, his feelings complicated.
So they'd been just one step away from the answer all along?
Their theory hadn't been wrong. Letting him enter the nightmare really had led to a special discovery...
If only they'd done just a little more...
But if that fellow hadn't kept recklessly courting death, they would have missed the answer.
"So it was essentially the same nightmare, just hidden too well?"
Amira clearly shared his view. The magnificent, icy sight before them had come from the person trapped beneath it.
"The victims were affected by it, too."
"It only emerged after coming into contact with the corruption in another nightmare?"
The more she thought about it, the more her scalp prickled. Amira looked at Reginald.
"What do we do now?"
If that was true, then they couldn't afford to take this nightmare lightly.
The sheer number of victims was terrifying enough. If there really was some hidden danger, the consequences were unimaginable.
"Unfortunately, we didn't see any special connection or passage... We're still a long way from the result we're looking for."
Reginald slowly shook his head, struggling to tear his gaze away.
The frost enveloping the entire body seemed to radiate a chill that froze everything. Stare at it for too long, and even your thoughts
