"How do you know it's still early? Because you just ate?"
Unfortunately, Lord Reginald was clearly in a bad mood. His response to Fu Qian's greeting was steeped in the kind of logic that had gone off the rails.
Even so, Fu Qian could still make out some of what he meant.
First, it was almost certain that the other man hadn't slept all night. There was no such thing as getting up early.
Second, the trouble Fu Qian had caused had clearly stirred up quite a commotion among the church.
Though only a short time had passed since the hunters arrived, the strategic shift it represented was far beyond what the clueless people involved could imagine.
That was Lord Reginald's perspective. His lack of information was bound to make his judgment somewhat one-sided.
Of course, if we were talking about logic alone, he wasn't any good at that, either.
"Maybe because none of you have eaten yet?"
Fu Qian blinked and answered without much courtesy.
"How do you know..."
Reginald was at a loss for words, while Amira couldn't help looking surprised.
"I just thought you might not have much of an appetite. Looks like I was right. If you have time, I suggest you try Mrs. Harper's cooking."
Pointing in the direction they had come from, Fu Qian had nothing but praise for his breakfast.
"...You seem to have quite an appetite, at least."
Reginald looked Fu Qian over, then finally spoke again.
"Of course. Unlike you and your confusion, I've never felt so calm and resolute."
Facing the veiled threat in Reginald's words, Fu Qian tapped his head with a finger.
"The moon's clear light guides me. I'm certain I'll never lose my way again."
That was the charm of a true believer.
