Night Snacks and the Sleepless
Amira was clearly taken aback by the concern shown for a returning tenant.
She had been sitting by the window, lost in thought, and even after hearing him, she remained where she was.
Only her body went rigid in an instant. She said nothing, but even clenched her fists, vaguely assuming a defensive stance.
At least she wasn't being too discourteous. No patterns symbolizing the Laws appeared on her body.
Fu Qian had already walked over to one side of the room. He found a coat and put it on.
"What happened to you?"
It seemed she had only just noticed his sorry state. She stared at the parts not covered by the coat, her gaze flickering before she finally spoke, her voice distinctly hoarse.
"I got hurt a little during the night shift."
Fu Qian shut the wardrobe with utterly natural ease, then found a leftover dessert nearby.
He sniffed it, confirmed that it had only lost a little of its aroma, and finally sat down, satisfied.
That was the point of putting on a coat. Otherwise, the fangs in his chest would be hard to explain away as an unusually shaped wound.
Night shift? Injured?
