"Professor Lanaia."
At the research assistant's gesture, footsteps soon sounded from behind the door. They could even hear someone coming down the stairs.
The Veil sisters were used to a life of luxury, after all. Even for a temporary stay, they'd chosen a two-story apartment.
As Fu Qian mused over this, the door opened from within, revealing Veil, looking rather travel-worn.
She was always so attentive when it came to her sister.
Judging by the time, she must have rushed here without stopping, and probably hadn't even had a chance to freshen up.
Veil was clearly surprised to see Ji Liushuang at the door, but only for an instant. She immediately smiled in greeting, then greeted Lanaia behind her.
"Professor Fu."
And Fu Qian, farther behind her.
It was clear that although she was surprised Professor Lanaia had found the person in question so quickly, she hadn't been completely caught off guard.
The reason was simple. The three visitors had made no effort to conceal their presence on the way over. They had even discussed the arrangements for the examination quite openly.
As a keen-eared Transcendent, it was hardly surprising that she'd overheard some of it and been prepared.
As for why she'd still waited until they knocked before coming downstairs, even so, Fu Qian could easily guess—
"Professor Lanaia."
The next moment, Lita followed her up. Dressed loosely, with her left hand hidden beneath her clothes, she greeted Lanaia with due respect.
It seemed Veil was deliberately avoiding any show of her Transcendent abilities in certain small ways, so as not to unsettle her sister.
"Please, come in."
Seeing her sister look at Fu Qian with a complicated expression, Veil calmly spoke again, inviting the three of them inside.
"Ji Liushuang, a student and Professor Fu's assistant."
