"I've brought the person."

On the only route to the workshop, Oz kept moving without pause. He went straight to the door and called inside.

"Come on. It's your time to shine."

Without even waiting for a response, he turned around and gestured for Fu Qian, who was looking around curiously, to go straight in.

"Sure."

Fu Qian showed no resistance at all and readily stepped through the door.

Standing inside, he felt a difference from the space outside.

It was a fairly spacious room. Though its layout was more conventional, it was just as empty inside as the places they'd explored earlier.

At a glance, the glowing, fluorescent patterns shone in the darkness. They weren't limited to the walls; instead, their lines climbed evenly over every surface.

Though they were just lifeless patterns painted there, they seemed to possess a faint, almost living vitality.

"Welcome—"

As Fu Qian looked around, a long sigh sounded, followed by a distinctly feminine voice from the darkness.

"It's been a long time since we've met a candidate this efficient. What's your name?"

The words were complimentary, but her tone held little emotion.

As she asked, the lines in one part of the room twisted, as if the patterns, imbued with some special meaning, had truly come alive for a moment.

Of course, it only seemed that way.

The light was dim, perhaps, but Fu Qian was sure that anyone with halfway decent eyesight, and not taken in by the obvious optical illusion, could see that the part of the pattern that had "moved" was actually a seated human-shaped shadow.

It was an illusion because the clothes she wore were also covered in fluorescent patterns of the same color, giving them an unusual camouflage effect.
