"Really?"
It had been a while since they'd last visited Miss Wen's mansion. Compared to before, there seemed to be even fewer security personnel. Beneath the slanting evening sun, the place had a peaceful, tranquil air about it.
Chief Yuan had been silent and low-spirited all the way there, so as soon as they arrived, Fu Qian took the initiative and brought up the shooting range.
Wen Li readily agreed and soon led the two of them to a corner of the courtyard.
Taking in the range, which wasn't particularly large but was fully equipped, Yuan Shan finally seemed interested enough to speak. She sounded surprised.
"You thought I was making it up? Or do you look down on Wen Li's financial resources?"
Before Wen Li could reply, Fu Qian snorted, standing up for Miss Wen.
"I just can't understand why she shares the same pointless hobby as someone else."
Yuan Shan, now in better spirits, wasn't about to let him have the last word. She shot back with a cold laugh.
The "someone else" was obviously Fu Qian. Clearly, she still remembered the strategist taking bullets from the Night Watchers' warehouse.
And he'd even called it pointless at the time.
Though Wen Li was only a fourth-tier Transcendent, the damage she could inflict with her bare hands was already enough to make a restricted weapon like this nearly meaningless.
Yet she'd gone and set up a practice range. It really seemed like someone had led her astray.
"Wrong. The fact that it's pointless is precisely what makes a hobby so transcendent."
Of course, compared to the widening gap between their Transcendent ranks, the difference in verbal artistry was even greater.
Pointing toward the targets in the distance, Fu Qian shook his head repeatedly, correcting Yuan Shan's mistaken assumptions.
