That would ensure the White-faced Man's identity and the spread of the golden flames were accepted to the greatest extent possible, making it likeliest that the information would reach the Night Watchers.
And judging by what had just happened, everything had gone perfectly.
The proof was that after the prisoner's furious backhanded slash nearly split Plain Knight in half, he had dodged into the attack's blind spot with astonishing agility, but hadn't taken the opportunity to strike.
The blow's power seemed to have shaken him, but he hadn't fled either. Instead, he stared fixedly at the flaming blade and the half of the knight convulsing strangely.
