Artifact Seedbed (Eight)

An interesting trick. It would probably prove just as useful in a fight.

Watching the flame cling to the wall like a blob of snot, Fu Qian didn't skimp on his praise.

The first blow dealt to that Scarlet Angel had clearly been caused by the same trick.

It wasn't all that stealthy, but with a little more staying power, it could obviously cause someone a great deal of trouble.

It also packed a decent punch.

Boom!

As they were commenting, the flame had already exploded just as violently as before, unleashing power far beyond what its appearance suggested.

It was even more powerful than their previous experience had led them to expect.

Everyone present had sharp senses and was an expert in the supernatural, so they recognized the trick as one they'd already seen.

Yet the explosion was far more devastating than the last one.

The entire stone wall, which had looked sturdy and thick—and had even been enchanted with an extra layer of ice—was torn to shreds like paper, sending shards of stone flying into their faces.

"There's a passage here that's been hidden all this time... Is access really restricted that strictly?"

Jill reacted quickly. She strode forward and inspected the enormous hollow beyond the wall, unable to make sense of it.

A faint glimmer of light could be seen, illuminating a flight of stairs that led downward.

"Not everywhere. But you can think of it that way."

White had paused only for the instant of the explosion. By the time he spoke, he was already moving forward and heading down.

His meaning was simple: not every route was guarded so strictly, but this one gave them an idea of the general level.

"There are other ways through, but this route is much shorter."
