Did it miss?
Fu Qian never underestimated the methods of ancient Higher Beings.
The reason he hadn't simply taken the hit was simple. Although the lightning looked weak, he could genuinely feel that its light and heat weren't all that intense.
But the effect of being struck by it was another matter.
He hadn't tested it firsthand, but Fu Qian could still reach that conclusion with confidence.
There was a very special authority attached to it. It was a little hard to describe, but in simple terms, perhaps it could be called the power of causality?
Or the butterfly effect.
Simply put, if this seemingly ordinary lightning really hit him, the damage it dealt would come with a chaotic multiplier.
It transcended the normal rules, dealing destruction beyond belief.
So much so that, although not exactly the same, it almost reminded him of the fateful meteor that had brought down the Angel Lord.
His current condition was already less than ideal. Taking a hit like that would likely have some pretty serious consequences.
As for how he could deduce so much at a glance, as if he'd read a skill description—because there basically was a skill description right there.
Not in the form of actual text, of course, but the lightning itself seemed to carry a certain stream of information, which a Second Order could receive with ease.
Fu Qian could even vaguely guess why this was happening.
"To punish without first instructing is to multiply punishments, yet not overcome evil."
If this insight hadn't been conveyed to him, that chaotic multiplier might not have worked.
He couldn't be absolutely sure, but it was hard to think of any other reason for this strange feature that practically plastered the skill description in his face.
So the instant Fu Qian noticed
