After one last look at the earring in his palm, he tucked it away, then turned to Yuan Fang.

The latter was clearly a clever fellow too. He immediately chuckled and raised the cup in his hand, admitting that he owed Professor Fu a favor now.
Besides, even if it was hard to say whether a young man's pride was right or wrong, seeing Professor Fu get bested was worth the price of admission.
Of course, putting on that whole performance just now hadn't been about adding some entertainment to the tea party.
