Mathematical Bliss (Sixteen)
The gaze of a true idealist was often something that those with impure thoughts dared not meet.
At that moment, a clearer stillness settled over the little church.
To toil with painstaking devotion, fear no misunderstanding, and sit alone in this silent place for nearly two and a half years—just thinking about such resolve and conviction seemed enough to be scorched by the brilliance it embodied.
And the reason this had such an effect based on nothing more than one person's account, before he had even explained what "the path to salvation" was, was simple—
This man had killed for the Brotherhood. Right in front of them.
Judge him by his words and actions. Given how serious such an act was in the Realm of Ultimate Bliss, there was no longer any need to concern themselves with his motives.
Whether he was putting on a show with shocking words, whitewashing his past, deliberately provoking the Brotherhood's beliefs even more, or simply insane... none of that mattered.
He had killed someone for the sake of this conversation.
When such an act lay before them, all words and probing questions seemed utterly powerless in an instant.
"You're crazy."
At least Brother with Thick Eyebrows, who was usually the first to break the silence, made that point perfectly clear.
With more than one person watching him almost unconsciously, he finally broke the silence first.
But the words made him sound rather undignified. Fu Qian, the man he was criticizing, had lost even the interest to reply. He merely gave a cold laugh and turned to crouch down.
The ground was covered in crimson; it was a brutal scene, too awful to look at.
But with Fu Qian's movements and the blood left unwiped on his face, the moment took on
