They lost.
Though Fu Qian spoke with such domineering confidence, the Witch could clearly appreciate the danger involved.
Very few Higher Beings would sit back and wait to die. In other words, it had been a death trap that even a true ancient deity, using every means at their disposal, couldn't escape.
"Wearing a divine skin is a very special Supernatural symbol. It also fits with what I sensed."
After some thought, she quickly offered her assessment.
"It's a perfect replica, like a moon forged from tempered steel that can still shine. The most immediate impression is clearly quite different, yet it possesses every trait of this divine position.
"It's like being a King of Prison Break that's one hundred and twenty percent authentic. You're now defined not only by this divine skin, but also by the concept of 'wearing' it. But I can't yet be sure whether that's the direct reason your Supernatural Perception disappeared."
More tyrannical than the Tyrant?
"I actually feel much the same—a replica more authentic than the original."
The Witch's explanation was vivid and straightforward, and Fu Qian let out a soft sigh.
There was, in fact, one rather counterintuitive thing: among the many Higher Beings, the Witch was the one who knew the most about his situation.
Ever since they had first made contact, she had witnessed nearly every step of his Supernatural Path.
And her assessment now matched his own thoughts perfectly.
Though he had become the King of Prison Break by having a false god wear the divine skin, his actions really did seem to have taken things a little too far.
He'd only meant to put on a skin, but somehow he'd ended up inheriting the legacy and becoming a fully realized, mechanically rebooted version.
Too much of a good thing
