"So you really hadn't considered what would happen if you failed?"
The Witch was no different. Beneath the moonlight, she kept walking, step by step, deeper into the dream.
Yet in the midst of this scene, the negotiator, who had seemed determined to stay calm, finally couldn't keep up the act.
Despite his incredulous question, he seemed cowed by the two behind him and didn't drag his feet or stop.
And, just like before, it was clear he'd been listening closely to Fu Qian and the Witch's analysis of how dire the situation was.
"Of course I've considered it. I thought you'd be looking forward to seeing how it plays out."
There was no need to trouble the Pope with a question like that. Fu Qian immediately smiled and struck up a conversation with his old friend.
The consequences of failure wouldn't be pretty, of course.
He could probably manage, but the Witch was undoubtedly the prisoners' carefully plotted target. It was even possible that the Dark Moon in this corridor was bait they had set.
If they really got trapped in the dream and couldn't escape, there was a good chance the Dark Moon Pope would be forced to become a pillar of the Nightmare Corridor and end up working here from then on.
And don't assume the negotiator was foolish to ask. The prisoners behind him likely all shared the same concern: where exactly was the Witch's limit?
In a head-on confrontation like this, it was essential to learn a few of the other side's key trump cards.
They likely had some doubts about whether the Witch truly had no reservations. After all, being locked up here as prisoners couldn't be pleasant.
And if an opponent was having second thoughts, that would obviously create more openings to exploit.
