The horror-movie elements kept piling up.
First came the jump scare from behind, and now someone was claiming to be dead in the middle of a conversation.
The old man spoke with complete seriousness, as though he had no doubt about it.
He watched Fu Qian just as intently, seeming to check whether he believed him.
"It's fine. It's all the same."
Fortunately, Fu Qian knew a thing or two about this sort of thing. He nodded naturally, his expression unruffled.
Never let on that you were different. That had always been the first rule of surviving a horror movie.
"Hmm... So who are you looking for?"
His movie-watching experience seemed to have paid off. After a brief pause, the old man's gaze finally softened.
"A woman. A very old woman with red eyes."
How could Fu Qian let such an opportunity pass? He pointed to his own eyes at once, emphasizing Lady Selena's defining features.
Whether or not someone had deliberately guided him here, he couldn't possibly pass up such a useful clue.
"That's too vague. Anything else?"
The old man seemed to search his memory carefully, though in the end he still shook his head.
"She might have bats around her."
Fu Qian added that quickly, and Lady Selena's image became even more unsightly.
"Bats... Have you tried looking in there?"
This time, the old man finally seemed moved. He turned and pointed somewhere nearby: the slaughterhouse.
Was this a case of all roads leading to the same place?
Among all the ordinary buildings, the slaughterhouse did stand out.
But that had never been Fu Qian's reason for coming here. He wasn't the sort to assume there had to be something extraordinary inside just because it looked unusual.
This wasn't a game. The designers wouldn't waste time
