It was only reasonable for a lighthouse to have a keeper.
They'd made it all the way to the Domain of the Dead, only to be stopped by a doorman. It felt almost too down-to-earth.
But Fu Qian didn't hurry at that moment. Instead, he asked a question as he tried to make sense of things.
He had to admit, the keeper's voice didn't match his appearance.
His voice was low but full of vigor. Yet judging by his face alone, he looked much like the first "Wise Dead," the old man.
As for the reason, it was easy enough for an expert in flesh to understand: a young man who looked old before his time. Being a lighthouse keeper meant being exposed to wind and rain, after all.
"Of course I'm a local..."
The keeper seemed to realize that his visitor meant trouble. At last, he came around from behind the creaking front desk.
"Anyway, there's no one here, and it's not open to the public. If you're looking for someone, come back after the storm passes. I don't have time to deal with that sort of thing."
The next moment, he even stepped in front of Fu Qian, his stance making it clear there would be no discussion.
"You certainly seem busy with work."
Fu Qian's gaze fell on the jangling ring of keys. Compared to everything else, they were remarkably shiny and slick. It was obvious someone had handled them a lot.
"But will the storm here ever pass?"
He still didn't try to force his way through. He simply voiced his doubts.
"Oh? You don't seem quite as stupid as you look."
The keeper's expression finally changed. He looked Fu Qian up and down again, seeming surprised, and gave him a compliment that sounded rather high
