Yuan Shan's words were easy enough to understand. As her teacher, Old Man Henry had cared for her deeply, giving her more than just the Meria Flower Ball—he'd given her several other valuable things, too.
But the specific effect she mentioned couldn't help bringing some strange associations to Fu Qian's mind.
The thing was unusual, to say the least. It didn't seem designed to help students defend themselves, but rather to let them keep track of their own condition at all times.
That inevitably brought to mind that night in Night Holy Capital. After their clash, when they met again, the imposing Old Man Henry had truly turned into a cat, basking in the sun beneath a windowsill.
At the time, Fu Qian had speculated that Henry knew he was a two-timing lackey, so he'd handed one of his vital points over to his student. That way, Yuan Shan could restrain him under certain special circumstances.
Compared with that, the thing Yuan Shan had mentioned felt all too familiar.
Of course, unless she offered it herself, Fu Qian wouldn't be so rude as to ask to see such a sensitive item.
"So you want me to help figure out what might be wrong with Old Man Henry?"
A moment later, he simply nodded slightly, confirming why Yuan Shan had come.
She'd put this ahead of rushing straight to Night Holy Capital. Should he be touched by Chief Yuan's trust, or was she simply so closely associating certain things with his image that he'd been her first thought?
"Or, as far as you know, has anything happened recently?"
It turned out the latter was probably more the case. Yuan Shan nodded, looking just as bewildered, and said she'd come to ask whether Professor Fu had
