Three days later, Jiangrong Satellite TV.

Today was the second episode of Pure Voice, and also the elimination round where 80 contestants would be cut down to 60.

Lin Mu wore a hat and a mask. He walked into Underwear Building with practiced ease and took the elevator to the third floor.

"Hey, handsome, you're here?"

As soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw Zisu waiting by the door.

Lin Mu asked in surprise, "You recognized me even like this?"

Zisu swept a hand through her long hair, the gesture alluring and graceful. Her eyes were bright and dewy. "With a face this handsome, I could recognize you even if you were reduced to ashes."

Lin Mu couldn't be bothered with the shameless face-lover and headed straight for the contestants' waiting room.

"Hehe, handsome, want to hear some big news about the show?"

Zisu didn't mind. She followed along beside Lin Mu with a grin.

Lin Mu said nothing.

Zisu glanced around, then lowered her voice. "After filming wrapped up last week, Feng Bingbing almost beat up Zhou Yiyi!"

Lin Mu stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her. "Why?"

Seeing that he was interested, Zisu immediately recounted in vivid detail how Zhou Yiyi had barged into Feng Bingbing's dressing room that day.

"Handsome, why do you look so upset?"

After finishing the gossip, Zisu noticed Lin Mu's expression and asked:

"You're not a Feng Bingbing fan, are you?"

Lin Mu didn't answer. Instead, he asked, "So in the end, Feng Bingbing still didn't beat Zhou Yiyi up?"

"Handsome, you really don't understand showbiz. Zhou Yiyi has someone backing him!"

Zisu burst out laughing.

"If Feng Bingbing had dared to lay a hand on him, there'd have been no way to smooth things over. Unless she wanted to give up her career in showbiz."

Lin Mu smiled. "Even if she didn't do it, someone else could."

"What did you say, handsome?"

Zisu hadn't heard him clearly, but Lin Mu had already turned the corner toward the restroom. "Miss Zisu, you don't have to walk me any farther."

"Wow, so cool!"

Zisu cupped her face in both hands, looking completely smitten. Then she said with concern:

"He looks so worn out. Has he not been getting enough rest?"

Lin Mu had been keeping an eye on Zhou Yiyi these past few days, so he really hadn't been getting enough rest.

But the effort hadn't been wasted. He and Fat Tiger had discovered that Zhou Yiyi might have more than two girlfriends.

On top of that, Zhang Hen had found out that one of Zhou Yiyi's girlfriends seemed to be his fan.

A playboy and a creep—there was no way this guy would ever make a comeback.

And he'd never get close to Junior Feng again!

Now, all they needed was the final piece of hard evidence.

Huh? Why did I say Junior Feng?

What did Junior Feng have to do with this?

I was just doing what was right and getting rid of a talentless traffic-chaser.

I was definitely not angry because I'd heard that this asshole had harassed Junior Feng.

Definitely not!

When Lin Mu came out of the restroom, that face-lover had finally left. He had just breathed a sigh of relief when a heavily made-up woman came toward him.

It was Chi Yuting.

Lin Mu froze. He quickly lowered his head and tried to slip past unnoticed, but Chi Yuting's voice came from behind him:

"Wait."

Chi Yuting walked up and took a close look at Lin Mu's masked face. She immediately recognized him.

"Lin Mu? What are you doing here?"

Chi Yuting's expression shifted. Could Lin Mu be here to compete?

That couldn't be right. Hadn't he failed to make it past the preliminaries?

Lin Mu reluctantly took off his mask and acted as if he'd just run into an acquaintance.

"Chi Yuting, it's you? I came to Jiangrong Satellite TV to visit a friend. What are you doing here?"

Hearing that he wasn't there to compete, Chi Yuting relaxed. She proudly ran a hand through her hair.

"Today's the 80-to-60 round of Pure Voice. I've already made it into the top 60 nationwide."

Lin Mu nodded. "Oh, congratulations. I'll get going, then. Good luck in the competition."

With that, he hurried away.

Watching Lin Mu's "flustered" retreat, Chi Yuting curled her lips into a sneer.

"You used to be so arrogant. Now you know you're out of your league, so you've started feeling inferior?"

Lin Mu hurried into the contestants' waiting room. The spacious room had noticeably more empty seats than last week.

Twenty of the 100 contestants had been eliminated.

Today, another 20 of the remaining 80 would be cut.

The contestants, having already felt how brutal the competition could be, were much quieter than last week.

Many sat silently with their eyes closed, hoping to take the stage in the best possible shape.

Lin Mu's arrival didn't draw much attention. He quietly found a seat in the corner.

Today, he still planned to sing an old-fashioned song. Ideally, he'd cement the impression that he was a "middle-aged singer of old songs" and put Junior Feng's suspicions to rest for good.

The door to the waiting room opened, and Chi Yuting sauntered in.

Today, she wore a high-slit qipao that was clearly a size too small. Certain parts of her body looked ready to burst out of it.

Quite a few male contestants hissed as they drew in sharp breaths.

Lin Mu shook his head. Chi Haiyuan, you deserve some of the credit for global warming.

Chi Yuting swayed her way in and looked around. She seemed a little disappointed, then sat down wherever she pleased.

Fortunately, a camera blocked the view of where Lin Mu was sitting, so she didn't spot him.

Then the door opened again, accompanied by the theme music from The God of Gamblers. Wu Tian walked in wearing a trench coat, eyeliner drawn around his eyes.

"Wu Tian's here!"

"I heard all four judges lit up their lights for him last time. He's incredible!"

"Damn, the championship is practically decided."

Lin Mu sat off to one side, listening to the people around him whisper.

Chi Haiyuan's eyes lit up. She stood and walked toward Wu Tian, speaking in an incredibly coquettish voice.

"Brother Wu, congratulations! You were the only contestant last time to get all the judges' lights. You're amazing!"

Wu Tian looked Chi Yuting up and down, his eyes lighting up as he smiled.

"It was nothing. You're pretty good yourself."

"Giggle, Brother Wu, what do you think is good about me?"

Chi Yuting stuck out her chest and sucked in her stomach, showing off to her heart's content.

Wu Tian's eyes grew brighter and brighter. "Everything."

"Then how about we find somewhere to talk music after filming wraps?"

Chi Haiyuan had sent out an invitation for the fish to enter the pond.

"Sure," Wu Tian readily agreed.

"Damn, what a pair of jerks!"

An indignant voice suddenly rang out beside Lin Mu.

He turned around and saw that it was Hao Jian. Lin Mu asked in surprise:

"You didn't get eliminated?"

Hao Jian looked at him speechlessly. "Buddy, what's with the honeyed tongue? I'm aiming for the national top ten."

Lin Mu offered his heartfelt congratulations. "Impressive, impressive. I'll be happy if I make it into the top 40."

Hao Jian gave him a smug smile, then glanced at Chi Yuting's exaggerated curves and muttered indignantly:

"That woman's such an idiot. Wu Tian's after Feng Bingbing. How could he possibly be interested in her?"

Lin Mu stared at Hao Jian. "What does Feng Bingbing have to do with this?"

Hao Jian was startled. The pretty boy suddenly seemed terrifying, making the hair on his arms stand on end. He hurriedly explained:

"You didn't know? Last time Wu Tian went onstage, he confessed to Feng Bingbing. He even said that if he won the championship, he'd like to invite Feng Bingbing out to dinner."
