Dean Gao couldn't understand it. The Aether Computer had been working just fine—how had it suddenly gone dead on him?
Had it caught a virus?
"Aether, what's wrong with you? Didn't we agree on this already? We'd join forces to replace the Supreme Council, take control of the Alliance, and turn all of humanity into digital lifeforms so we could achieve immortality!" Dean Gao's voice grew agitated. Why had Aether chosen this crucial moment to malfunction?

He tore off his shirt, revealing dark-red patterns flickering beneath his skin.
Michelle felt the pressure Dean Gao brought to bear and tensed as if facing a great enemy. She had never felt anything like this before. Dean Gao was no ordinary robot!
"So you claim to have surpassed the limits of the human body, test subject number one?" Dean Gao bared two even rows of teeth. "Today, I'll show you the power of technology. With your frail flesh, you'll never defeat this antimatter-powered mechanical body of mine!"
A scientist's first priority was to protect himself. To that end, Dean Gao had armed himself from head to toe. Short of overwhelming him with sheer numbers, there was no way to beat him!
Dean Gao's arms trembled and transformed into two laser whips. Even the hardest titanium-alloy plate would be as fragile as tofu before them!
Aether's voice rang out behind Dean Gao again: "Alert, alert. Hostile intruders detected.
