In the dark and damp death row, Zheng Qian slowly opened his eyes.
Surrounded by cold stone walls, the air was thick with the stench of rot and mold, while the rustling sounds of rats and insects occasionally drifted into his ears.
Where... is this? Zheng Qian struggled to recall, but his mind was a chaotic void; he could remember nothing.
He only remembered that he was an ordinary corporate slave in the twenty-first century, working from nine to nine, six days a week, with the occasional overtime shift.
His name was incredibly plain—Zheng Qian—a clear expression of his parents' earnest expectations for him to be wealthy.
His memory stopped at the sound of a piercing horn late that night...
That day, because he had to finish a proposal, he had worked overtime until past midnight.
Just as he was riding his beat-up scooter home, a runaway heavy-duty truck slammed straight into him.
And then? There was no then.
When he woke up again, he had already appeared in this godforsaken place.
Zheng Qian, having just woken up, looked at the strange and wretched environment around him with a face full of bewilderment. Just as he prepared to rub his eyes and take another look—
"Clatter—"
He discovered that his hands were actually locked in heavy iron chains. Not just his hands; his ankles were also shackled with heavy fetters. With the slightest movement, the chains emitted a harsh, grating sound.
"Hey, newbie, stop struggling," a hoarse voice came from the neighboring cell. "No one who enters this death row ever leaves alive. The Autumn Equinox is in seven days; we'll all be dragged out to be beheaded, so save your strength."
Zheng Qian's heart tightened, and he hurriedly asked, "What is this place? Why am I locked up here?"
The man sneered, "Playing dumb? This is the death row of the Xishan Commandery in the Xingyang Dynasty, where the worst criminals are kept. Don't you have any idea what you did?"
"Xingyang Dynasty? Xishan Commandery? Death row?" Zheng Qian was stunned.
He had never heard of any Xingyang Dynasty or Xishan Commandery, let alone remembered committing any crime worthy of being dragged out to be beheaded!
What era was this? How could there still be something like beheading...
Wait! A dynasty? A commandery? Did I transmigrate? And I'm starting off locked in a death row cell?!! Zheng Qian muttered to himself, a bit slow to process the reality.
In other words, he was killed by a truck, finally transmigrated to live a new life, and now he was going to be dragged out to be beheaded?
This was just too damn miserable!
Just then, footsteps echoed outside the cell, and several jailers clad in black armor walked over. The leader tapped the iron bars with the hilt of his blade and said coldly, "Zheng Qian, you are to be executed at noon in seven days. Enjoy your final moments."
Zheng Qian's heart sank to the bottom. He tried to explain, but the jailers ignored him entirely, tossed down a "last meal," and turned to leave.
Am I really going to die here? Zheng Qian clenched his fists, his heart filled with unwillingness and despair.
He was just a powerless corporate slave; most of the knowledge he had learned in his previous life had been returned to his teachers long after he started working.
Expecting him to escape death row on his own would be better off just killing him with one strike.
Just as Zheng Qian was in despair, a cold, mechanical prompt sounded in his mind:
"Ding! Host detected in a desperate situation. Myriad Worlds Simulator has been bound."
"The host can use this simulator to enter the myriad worlds for training, obtaining cultivation techniques, martial arts, Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, divine weapons, and spiritual pills to enhance your strength."
Zheng Qian was stunned for a moment, then filled with wild joy.
As a veteran internet user, he naturally knew what a simulator was!
His golden finger had arrived!
If he played his cards right, let alone leaving this death row alive, even immortality wouldn't be just a dream.
And the prerequisite for all of this was that he had to understand how to use this [Myriad Worlds Simulator].
Just as this thought surfaced in Zheng Qian's mind, a stream of information quickly flooded his brain.
It took a full half-quarter of an hour before he finished reading it all.
He now had a very detailed understanding of the [Myriad Worlds Simulator] that had just appeared.
The ability of the [Myriad Worlds Simulator] was simple: it allowed the host, Zheng Qian, to simulate his life in different worlds.
Each time a simulation was completed, Zheng Qian could extract one or more rewards from the simulated world.
This included, but was not limited to: cultivation realms, martial arts techniques, Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, spiritual pills, and so on.
Of course, simulations couldn't be performed at will. Zheng Qian roughly organized the specific requirements:
1. The [Myriad Worlds Simulator] requires [Simulation Points] to operate.
There are two ways to obtain [Simulation Points]. The first is through the [Myriad Worlds Simulator] absorbing energy on its own; the speed of acquisition is directly proportional to the strength of the host, Zheng Qian.
The stronger Zheng Qian is, the faster the [Simulation Points] will grow on their own, and vice versa.
The second is by absorbing treasures containing sufficient energy to obtain [Simulation Points], with the quantity obtained depending on the quality of the treasure.
The Myriad Worlds Simulator will randomly generate a world corresponding to the host's strength, allowing the host to conduct a life simulation.
The world levels are categorized as: Martial World, Low Martial World, Mid Martial World, High Martial World, Heavenly Martial World, and so on.
For each world tier, Zheng Qian can draw one talent corresponding to that world's level for free during the first simulation (only one new talent can be obtained per simulated world).
If he is dissatisfied with the drawn talent, he can redraw it by consuming Simulation Points.
The number of Simulation Points required for simulation and talent drawing, as well as the talent tiers available for each world level, are as follows:
Martial World: 1 Simulation Point for one simulation and one talent draw; can draw White-tier talents.
Low Martial World: 10 Simulation Points for one simulation and one talent draw; can draw Green-tier talents.
Mid Martial World: 100 Simulation Points for one simulation and one talent draw; can draw Blue-tier talents.
High Martial World: 1,000 Simulation Points for one simulation and one talent draw; can draw Purple-tier talents.
And so on; the higher the world tier, the more Simulation Points consumed, and the better the talents obtained.
After the simulation begins, the host will randomly reincarnate as any supporting character or nobody in the simulated world, excluding the protagonist, and the timeline will also be randomized.
However, regardless of who he reincarnates as, he will start from infancy, and all talents will remain the same as the host's.
After the simulation ends, the host can select rewards based on his rating in the simulated world, with a minimum of one reward and a maximum of five.
The rating levels are: Inferior (0-20 points), can select one reward; Average (21-40 points), can select two rewards; Superior (41-60 points), can select three rewards; Excellent (61-80 points), can select four rewards; Perfect (81-100 points), can select five rewards.
