The two sat down in the hall, and wine and dishes were quickly set before them.
Sun Wukong raised his cup and drained it in one gulp. Then he poured another and drained that one too.
He merely kept his head lowered, drinking.
Other than that, he made no other move.
The Dragon King drank several cups with him, then said with a smile, "Great Sage, you were imprisoned beneath Five Elements Mountain for over a thousand years, yet you can still drink like this."
"What the hell does a thousand years amount to?" Sun Wukong set down his cup. "When I was beneath that mountain, I couldn't even get a mouthful of water, let alone wine. Those Jiedi made me drink molten copper. It churned my stomach like overturning rivers and seas."
The Dragon King sighed. "When the Great Sage wrought Havoc in Heaven, what magnificent prestige you had. What a pity, what a pity."
"What's a pity?" Sun Wukong poured himself another cup.
"It is a pity that the Great Sage's luck was poor, and you were suppressed beneath the mountain by Tathagata Buddha Patriarch." The Dragon King shook his head. "If the Great Sage had had more helpers back then, perhaps the outcome would have been different."
Sun Wukong fell silent for a while, then lifted his cup and drained it in one gulp.
"Old Dragon King, don't talk about that. When I think of those days now, even I feel I went a little too far. But I was young then, hot-blooded, unwilling to admit defeat. After being suppressed for over a thousand years, every bit of my temper has been crushed out of me."
