The monk acknowledged and walked over to Tang Sanzang, gesturing for him to follow.
Tang Sanzang rose to his feet, pressed his palms together in a respectful bow toward Elder Jinchi, then followed the monk out of the main hall.
Sun Wukong straightened from the pillar and followed behind him. As he left, he glanced back at Elder Jinchi.
He felt that there was something off about this monk.
But he did not like Tang Sanzang either.
He could not be bothered with it!
Elder Jinchi was lowering his head, cradling the cassock in both hands as though examining the patterns on it.
Candlelight shone across him from the side. His aged fingers gently stroked the golden thread along the cassock's edge, his movements unusually tender, as if confirming that something belonging to him had finally returned to its rightful owner.
