"Ding Yebai! You scored 139 in English this time!"
Early in the morning, Lu Shuai rushed into the classroom to tell Ding Yebai the inside scoop.
Ding Yebai froze. The flaky flatbread in his mouth suddenly tasted countless times better.
"Seriously?" he asked, somewhat doubtful.
Actually, this early-December monthly exam had been a notch harder than the previous papers.
Ding Yebai felt that he had done pretty well at most, perhaps just a tiny bit better than before.
He never would have imagined that he could score 139.

"That's incredible, Ding Yebai. This test was really difficult, and you still scored so well." His female desk mate leaned over and spoke enviously.
Ding Yebai was feeling rather smug. This was the first time he had ever scored so well.
Lu Shuai turned around, his face full of admiration and envy. "I suspect that graduate student tutored you in every subject, not just English."
"No. She only tutored me in English." Ding Yebai hurriedly explained.
"Then your grades are way too outrageous. Why is your Chinese score so high too?"
"I'm not sure either. Maybe I'm also a natural at studying Chinese?"
