We still didn't know whether anything strange would happen during the second half of the night.
Jia Le and Qingqing were almost done setting up the tent.
Lin Fan was about to leave.
He had only just taken a step when someone behind him called out.
Master Yixiu seemed to have thought of something and reached out to stop Lin Fan. "Young benefactor Lin Fan, I'd like to ask—what did that demon flower you and Daoist Priest Four-Eyes mentioned look like?"
"What is it? Have you remembered something, Master?"
Lin Fan answered.
"Old monk, you didn't say anything when I asked you just now, and now you're trying to play mysterious again?"
Daoist Priest Four-Eyes looked disdainful as he teased him.
"Daoist Priest, you don't understand. I was afraid that making a premature judgment would disrupt your line of thought. Since there's nothing else to do, I thought I'd discuss it with young benefactor Lin Fan before confirming it."
Master Yixiu replied calmly as ever.
Lin Fan spoke when he heard this. "Master Yixiu, the flower's leaves were broadly ovate, with irregularly wavy edges, and its calyx was tubular. Think carefully—have you ever seen one?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Master Yixiu stroked the string of Buddhist beads on his hand.
He knitted his brows, as if he had remembered something, and replied, "I don't think it was merely tubular. Its lobes were triangular too, weren't they?"
"Bald donkey, I didn't expect you to actually know. My, my—you knew and still refused to say anything."
Daoist Priest Four-Eyes was indignant, looking as though he wanted to pick a fight.
Seeing this, Master Yixiu was even more delighted.
The corners of his mouth kept rising.
Stinky Daoist, I finally have something to hold over you.
There's something even you, Four-Eyes, don't recognize.
I've won this time.
"Master, stop laughing. Tell us already."
Lin Fan urged him.
These two old fellows really fought from morning till night.
They wouldn't be happy unless they fought until both were battered and bloody.
Ahem, ahem.
Master Yixiu coughed twice.
He turned toward Daoist Priest Four-Eyes, his face overflowing with delight.
He looked as if he had encountered the greatest stroke of luck.
Then he continued, "If I'm not mistaken, that flower should have been pale pink. It was a mandrake from the Western Regions. I had the good fortune to see it several times when I went there to seek scriptures."
After saying this, he proudly shot Daoist Priest Four-Eyes a glance.
"Master, that doesn't sound right. Why do I remember that flower being red?"
Daoist Priest Qian He seemed to be recalling something and spoke in confusion.
"Hahahaha!"
Seeing Master Yixiu make a fool of himself, Daoist Priest Four-Eyes threw his head back and laughed. "Old bald donkey, the truth is out now, isn't it? And you call yourself a virtuous monk? You really overdid it this time! It was red—did you hear me? Red, red, red!"
Lin Fan watched the scene.
He shook his head helplessly.
What an exasperating martial uncle.
Just as Daoist Priest Four-Eyes was laughing wildly.
A large hand suddenly shot out.
"What did you say?"
Master Yixiu's expression abruptly changed.
He grabbed Daoist Priest Four-Eyes firmly by the arm.
"What are you doing, bald donkey? You can gloat all you want, but I can't enjoy myself for a moment? Let go!"
Daoist Priest Four-Eyes was startled by Master Yixiu's sudden action.
"What color did you say that flower was?"
Master Yixiu seemed to tighten his grip even more.
"Red, red, red! Did you hear me? What do you mean by this? Let go already!"
Daoist Priest Four-Eyes answered irritably.
Master Yixiu's pupils abruptly widened.
Then he slowly released his hand.
He spoke in disbelief. "I never expected it to be a mutated mandrake... That's nothing like an ordinary mandrake. A normal mandrake only contains a small amount of poison in the flower. It has to be ingested to cause hallucinations, and ordinarily, no one would eat it.
"But that mutated, brilliant-red mandrake is a top-tier evil creature known as the Seven-Colored Mandala. Red is merely the first stage of the Seven-Colored Mandala's mutation. Not only does this top-tier evil creature contain an extremely terrifying amount of baleful energy, but under certain conditions, it may even give birth to a powerful monster."
After he finished speaking.
"Ah!"
A sigh escaped.
Master Yixiu could not stop shaking his head.
It was as if something bad had happened.
A look of alarm flashed across Lin Fan's face as he said, "It's exactly as Master said. Earlier, when ghosts were causing trouble at Ren Manor in Ren Family Town, my master and I went there to set up an array and deal with them. That demon flower also appeared inside Ren Manor and even gave birth to a Flower Demon. Fortunately, my master and I worked together to deal with it."
Master Yixiu's expression turned solemn.
He slowly said, "This Seven-Colored Mandala is extraordinarily rare throughout the entire Western Regions. How could it appear in such a small place?"
"Bald donkey, are you sure it's the mandrake you mentioned, and not..."
Daoist Priest Four-Eyes was confused.
"There's no falsehood in my words. I absolutely couldn't have remembered incorrectly."
Master Yixiu replied firmly.
In an instant, everyone inside the tent fell into deep thought.
Knock, knock.
Not far away, Jia Le drove in the final wooden stake.
He firmly nailed down all four corners of the tent.
"All done. Time to pack it in. Qingqing, you can call them over."
Jia Le wiped away his sweat and spoke.
Qingqing nodded in response.
Then Jia Le walked toward the others.
Rustle, rustle.
A burst of footsteps came from not far away.
It interrupted everyone's thoughts.
"Master, the tent has been fixed up. You can go inside and rest now."
Qingqing called out to the people ahead.
Seeing this, Lin Fan said, "Stop thinking about it. Everyone should rest for a while. We can talk about anything else after we've rested. The matter is settled for now, and there's no point dwelling on it."
After saying this, Lin Fan thought no further.
At this point, he still had to focus on leveling up.
Nothing in the world was more important than leveling up.
Who cared about some Seven-Colored Mandala?
Or even an Eight-Colored Mandala?
As long as he became strong enough, he could beat even the Jade Emperor himself.
"So be it, so be it. Little martial nephew is right. There's no point dwelling on it."
Daoist Priest Four-Eyes picked up the conversation.
As soon as he finished speaking, he headed toward the tent.
Lin Fan followed closely behind.
Daoist Priest Qian He and East, South, West, and North also followed when they saw this.
Master Yixiu seemed to have figured things out as well. He led Qingqing forward.
He no longer dwelled on the matter.
A moment later.
Lin Fan entered the tent and found a corner.
Then he sat down and focused his mind.
"System, check my remaining Skill Points."
[System Notification: Remaining Skill Points.]
The system's voice echoed in his mind.
Lin Fan was delighted.
Fortunately, the Nether Sleep Array had not consumed too many Skill Points.
He had saved up quite a number and could improve himself properly now.
Looking at the Minor Accomplishment level of the Seven Kills of Gods and Ghosts, as well as the entry-level Eight-Nine Arcane Arts.
Lin Fan furrowed his brows and thought for a moment.
His previous strategy had been wrong. He had underestimated the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts too much.
His current physique was completely sufficient. Even that mutated, monstrously powerful zombie physique couldn't break his skin.
The Eight-Nine Arcane Arts were simply too powerful. After all, they were the martial arts of Erlang Zhenjun!
His offensive Daoist arts, however, were somewhat lacking. At present, he only had the Purple Heaven Divine Thunder.
Lin Fan settled on a direction and called out inwardly, "System, upgrade the Shattering Order!"
