As an undead mage and a member of the undead race, Gege Wu himself had never been particularly interested in the various technological devices developed by their Great Zhou, but he was still fairly knowledgeable in this area.
Even so, the streams of smoke-belching steel figures that had just entered his perception still left him momentarily dumbfounded.
Those smoke-belching steel figures stood at least three meters tall. To a certain extent, they were humanoid, with clearly visible limbs and torsos.
However, they did not move by walking like ordinary people. Their mechanical legs ended in feet designed somewhat like tank treads. As the treads turned, they drove the steel bodies rapidly across the desert.
Their arms were no ordinary limbs, either. One mechanical arm was fitted with a massive circular saw blade, while the other held a sharp mechanical claw. Under the desert's scorching sunlight, both flashed with a sinister, icy gleam!
Above the chest, there was no head. In its place was a semicircular cockpit recessed into the torso.
The cockpit had no canopy, leaving the driver's upper body completely exposed to the sweltering environment.
The drivers wore helmets and massive goggles that covered nearly half their faces. Sharp laughter kept spilling from their mouths, as though they were enjoying some delightful game.
It did not take Gege Wu long to figure out what game they were playing. Amid the boundless yellow sands, swift figures wrapped in reddish-brown fur began appearing one after another.
These figures were not particularly tall—in fact, they were rather slender. Their heights appeared to range from 1.6 to 1.7 meters, making them short compared with most of the adult men in Great Zhou.
They wore protective gear made of leather and cloth, and carried all manner of cold weapons, including sabers and short spears.
