As Rhine pressed his palm down, a faint golden glow appeared on it, and a fear of imminent annihilation rose within Peeves.
This fear was far stronger than when the Chamber of Secrets had been opened decades ago and Peeves had nearly met the Basilisk's gaze.
Meeting the Basilisk's eyes would at most leave a ghost permanently petrified, and they could still be saved.
But now, if Rhine's palm truly struck him, Peeves felt that he might really be done for.
