"Stop the rats!"

Daniel and the others were equally on high alert, raising their firearms and firing nonstop.

Bang, bang~

One rat after another was taken down, but there were simply too many of them. Soon, one malformed rat after another broke through the blockade and darted straight into the crowd.

After getting inside, the rats did not bite anyone right away. Instead, they kept burrowing deeper into the crowd.

Student after student leaped up and cried out in terror.

Just then, a tremendous roar rang out from the sky.

Chen Yi and the others were startled and hurriedly looked up. One Iron Head Mecha after another descended from the sky, crashing heavily onto the open ground at the edge of the field.

These Iron Head Mecha were clearly different from their training mecha. Every one of them was equipped with an XS-01 heavy Explosive Machine Gun, a Heavy Metal Mechanical Blade, and a Portable Flamethrower mounted on its back. A red wolf-claw emblem was painted across its chest.

At that moment, a ten-meter-tall Second Generation Mecha—Iron Wing—descended from the sky in front of the many Iron Head Mecha. Its entire body was covered in thick gray alloy armor, a pair of high-speed thruster wings was embedded in its back, a 30 mm close-range cannon was mounted on its shoulder, and it wielded an Alloy Blade.

"It's the Thirteenth District Defense Force's Second Ace Heavy Assault Brigade—the Blood Wolf! We're saved!"

Many despairing students cried out with tears streaming down their faces.

The Second Generation Mecha—Iron Wing—raised its Alloy Blade and pointed it at the charging parasite hosts, speaking in a grim voice.

"First squad, intercept them!"

"Understood!"

Twenty Iron Head Mecha immediately carried out the order. They formed a line and raised their guns, unleashing a barrage. The Chilami swarming toward them were like paper before the heavy firepower, being shredded in swathes.

"Vice-Captain Xima, what should we do about the field? Everything's gone out of control!"

Vice-Captain Xima asked anxiously.

Han Le glanced over and immediately made a decision.

"Xima, take your squad out of the mecha and enter the crowd to kill the parasite hosts. Suppress the riot as quickly as possible. The rest of you, follow me and guard the perimeter of the crowd on the field. Kill the rats that keep pouring in."

"Yes, Captain Han Le!"

Xima took the lead in opening the cockpit and jumping down.

The twenty Iron Head Mecha opened their cockpits as well and nimbly jumped out.

All of them were wearing First Generation Mechanical Exoskeleton Armor—Iron Shell. Under normal circumstances, these Chilami parasite hosts could not injure them.

Besides, they had no other choice. Mecha were like steel monstrosities, making it impossible to fight inside a crowd. If they failed to control one properly and made even a single mistaken attack, who knew how many people would die?

Soon, Xima led his subordinates into the crowd. He shot parasite hosts with a beam rifle while shouting loudly.

"Everyone, stay calm! Keep your distance as much as possible! We're here to save you!"

Teacher Chen Yi and the others, along with Guard Captain Daniel, were greatly encouraged. They rushed into the crowd to help clear it out while repeatedly calling to the students and calming them down.

At that moment, Su Ming and the other two controlled their training mecha and escorted a large group of students over.

When they saw the battlefield in chaos, they stopped in their tracks.

Minke swallowed as he looked at the scene before him and said to Su Ming,

"Su Ming, it really happened just as you feared. Something went wrong on the field!"

"Hmph, I just don't understand. Su Ming saw the problem, so how did none of them notice it? Do they all have pig brains?"

Chen Tong said irritably.

"Don't put it that way. The teachers actually had no choice. They had limited manpower, and they wanted to save as many people as possible, so they could only gather everyone together for protection."

Su Ming was troubled as well. They could not possibly leave their mecha and enter the battlefield like those soldiers.

Just then, Lin Chuyu, Teacher Tang Yan, and the others piloted their training mecha over, escorting another group of students.

Tang Yan stared at the chaotic field ahead, his brows tightly furrowed as he spoke to Su Ming and the other two.

"It's too chaotic. You three shouldn't get involved. We'll leave these students we escorted to you. Protect them."

"Okay!"

Minke immediately took the lead in answering.

"Lin Chuyu, come with me to the edge of the field and assist with the rescue!"

Tang Yan spoke to Lin Chuyu, then piloted his mecha toward the chaotic crowd.

Lin Chuyu drove her mecha with great caution, following behind Tang Yan.

Su Ming and the other two remained where they were, watching Tang Yan and Lin Chuyu go to the rescue.

Tang Yan and Lin Chuyu soon reached the edge of the field, their nerves stretched taut. When the students saw the rescue mecha arriving, they swarmed toward them like drowning people grasping at straw.

Tang Yan and Lin Chuyu immediately stopped and repeatedly turned their heads to check whether any parasite hosts had mixed into the crowd. Whenever they found one, they controlled their mecha to extend a hand, grab it, and crush it.

Vice-Captain Xima encouraged everyone while killing Chilami parasite hosts.

In the end, through everyone's combined efforts, the remaining parasite hosts were also eliminated, and the disorder gradually subsided.

Su Ming and the others looked at the field as it settled down and let out a long breath.

But just then, a sudden thunderous boom rang out.

The wall on the right side of the field was pushed down. A large number of malformed rats and the remaining parasite hosts swarmed in from outside, surging toward the school.
