The five fire toads' Siwu spiritual flames were astonishingly powerful. Even Lu Xiaotian, at least, probably wouldn't have been able to endure them for long without using the Devouring Soul Art. Yet the white-haired, one-eyed old man was even weaker than Lu Xiaotian, and still he faced the enormous pillar of fire, formed from all five flames, with complete composure.
Just as the enormous pillar of fire was about to fall upon the old man, the white-haired, one-eyed elder formed a hand seal. At his sharp cry, the Fire-Nurtured Court Bead blazed with light, and a chant of Buddhist invocations sounded from within it.
"Buddhist secret mantra!" Lu Xiaotian knew what he was looking at. As the Buddhist chant rang out, the Fire-Nurtured Court Bead seemed to exert an immense attraction, drawing every last wisp of the spiritual flames spat out by the five fire toads into the bead. Then, from the other side, it released them as purer blue flames, which surged beneath the pill furnace.
After being imbued with the Buddhist chant, these spiritual flames seemed to grow peaceful and serene, steeped in Zen.
"What an ingenious method!" Lu Xiaotian watched in astonishment. The Siwu spiritual flames, which had originally been unsuitable for alchemy, had undergone such a tremendous transformation through the Fire-Nurtured Court Bead. Achieving this required not only consummate skill in refining magic treasures, but also a rare and ingenious way of thinking. Had he not witnessed it with his own eyes, Lu Xiaotian would never have imagined that spiritual flames could be transformed this way.
If even Siwu spiritual flames could be used in alchemy, then the Wuxiang Profound Fire he had yet to refine might also prove useful. Lu Xiaotian drew a breath and fixed his attention on every move the white-haired, one-eyed elder
