An Uninvited Guest
Three crimson flying swords stood like needles in the void. Some of the lightning bolts crashing down from above were cut apart by the sword-light bursting from the three blades. The rest slipped through the gaps between them and struck Qingming's python body.
The tribulation lightning had only unleashed a fraction of its power so far. Like most demons undergoing tribulation to ascend, Qingming was using her powerful physique to adapt to the lightning as quickly as possible. Trying to forcibly resist it was unwise. Before the final wave arrived, she had to adapt her body to as much of the lightning as she could and complete her transformation as quickly as possible. Only then could she endure the tribulation's baptism.
Qingming was evolving along that very path. She deployed one method after another to dispel the tribulation lightning, while its relentless strikes brought increasingly dramatic changes to her body. Two small bumps rose on her head. With two soft pops, they seemed to split open, and through the flashes of lightning, two sharp horns could be seen sprouting from her forehead.
The tribulation lightning seemed intent on smothering this ferocious creature in its cradle. Each falling bolt grew thicker than the last, completely swallowing Qingming's form.
From the outside, all one could see was endless lightning. Deep within it, mournful dragon roars sounded on and off.
The whole process continued unabated. Several wolf riders in the void, surrounding a True Immortal–level werewolf, sensed the astonishing tribulation lightning from far away.
