"Even so, I still need his consent. Otherwise, wouldn't I be breaking my word?" Lu Xiaotian said.
Yan Jiu looked at Lu Xiaotian in surprise. He hadn't expected Lu Xiaotian to be so insistent about this. Still, that insistence gave Yan Jiu a measure of goodwill toward him. After all, someone who kept his promises couldn't be all bad.
"Fine. I'll get that lion-maned monster's approval, then come back to find you." Yan Jiu nodded, making no further argument. "Be careful of Zhen Jingshan. You've damaged his foundations, but they say he still has one or two reliable allies. Their strength may be no less than his."
"Oh? Are they close to the Celestial Immortal level too?" A trace of surprise appeared on Lu Xiaotian's face.
"One of them might even be stronger than Zhen Jingshan. Even if he can't attack you directly, you should still be on your guard. Of course, you look as if you still have enough strength for another fight. You may not need to be so afraid." Yan Jiu's gaze swept over Lu Xiaotian, showing surprise, though not a great deal of it.
A flicker passed through Lu Xiaotian's eyes. He wasn't sure why Yan Jiu had reached that conclusion. There was no disguising the injuries inside his body, but the damage to his Primordial Spirit wasn't enough to affect his ability to fight. Once he returned, he could rest briefly, use his dragon essence to suppress the surging energy inside him, then force it out of his body. Zhen Jingshan's situation was different. Unlike Lu Xiaotian, he had no reserve of dragon essence, and unlike Lu Xiaotian, he couldn't draw out a fraction of his Primordial Spirit to fight someone else without affecting his ability to unleash power at the Profound Immortal level.
