Turn of Events
Lu Xiaotian and Mu Xia sped through the air. Before they reached the place where Shentu Zhanfeng and the others had been capturing Prison River Soul Whales, Shentu Zhanfeng, Bai Ruxue, and Nie Tianhou came fleeing toward them with panic on their faces.
"Leave, quickly!" Nie Tianhou hurriedly shouted at Lu Xiaotian and Mu Xia.
"Do you think you can still leave?" A shrill cry like an owl rang out from afar. A figure appeared in the void, his entire body wrapped in black robes and black smoke billowing from his face. He strolled leisurely, as though he were slowly emerging from another dark abyss.
Nie Tianhou's group was already moving at tremendous speed, yet with just a few light steps, the black-robed man with black smoke pouring from his face intercepted them.
Lu Xiaotian eyed the mysterious black-robed man with some suspicion. He could indeed sense the aura of a Celestial Immortal–level powerhouse from him, but it seemed somewhat less formidable than that of other Celestial Immortals.
The black-robed man waved a hand. In the distant void, black qi churned, and within it appeared a vast swarm of Demonic Beasts with centipede heads and crimson whiskers. Their nearly ten-foot-tall bodies seemed to contain a shadow swaying within.
The mysterious black-robed man strode through the void and struck toward Lu Xiaotian from afar with one palm. Lu Xiaotian turned his palm and met the attack head-on, Buddhist light surging from his palm. Boom! Layer upon layer of ripples spread through the space around Lu Xiaotian and the area occupied by the black-robed man opposite him.
Lu Xiaotian drifted backward, while the mysterious black-robed man also staggered. Lu Xiaotian's heart settled slightly. Though the man's methods were extraordinary, he had yet to reach the true Celestial Immortal level.
